Academic Programs

The Early year’s programme which is a part of the IB PYP is designed for students between the ages of 2.5 and 6 years. It is an international, transdisciplinary programme that aims to foster the holistic development of the child.

The philosophy of the Primary Years Programme, as it directly affects the child, is expressed in a series of desired attributes and traits that characterize students with an international perspective. They learn to think Globally and act locally by developing the attributes of profiles.  They become Inquirers, Thinkers, Communicators, Risk Takers, Knowledgeable, Open-Minded, Principled, Balanced, Caring and Reflective .

At MIS we emphasize the importance of students making connections between their experience and the incremental pieces of new information they encounter. The school and the programme supports the student’s struggle to gain understanding of the world and to learn to function comfortably within it, to move from not knowing to knowing, to identifying what is real and what is not real, to acknowledging what is appropriate and what is not. To do this, school ensures that students integrate a great deal of information and apply this accumulation of knowledge   in a cohesive and effective way.

The program gives the students an opportunity to construct their own meaning by researching and finding answers to their curiosity. Experiential learning thereby becomes an integral part of the program. It provides a platform from the students to build from the known and go further in their learning. Inquiry is not only encouraged when students investigate and develop the understanding of the central idea in any unit of inquiry, but also when students learn about any other subject outside the program of inquiry.

A famous quote from Thomas Jefferson says “What we learn to do, we learn by doing”. Academics at M. Kids therefore focuses on the learning from children’s eye implying,

I hear and I forget

I see and I remember

I do and I understand.

In Early Years We Strongly Emphasize on:
